Changes in forest harvesting/fire management, grazing practices, and road location are all types of grazing and upland restoration projects. These types of restoration activities often focus on eliminating or reducing upslope sediment supplies to the stream network—which can increase quality of salmon spawning habitat and aid in channel stability— but can also focus on increasing stream flows or maintaining healthy riparian vegetation by managing grazing regimes. Examples of grazing and upland management restoration projects include: juniper removal; road relocation or stabilization; prescribed burns or thinning projects; and implementing specific types of grazing management regimes.
